Admission Procedures


U.S. Citizens

  1. Complete the enrollment application in its entirety and submit to the school a minimum of two weeks prior to your intended start date. The application for admission is also located on our website.
  2. The following items should accompany the enrollment application, or should be mailed to our office shortly after electronic transmittal:
    1. An original birth certificate with raised seal or copy of valid passport.
    2. Copy of medical/student pilot certificate.
    3. Copy of any current FAA or non FAA licenses and ratings.
    4. Signed copy of the “Student Training Agreement” (also available on line).
    5. Training Deposit (varies by course; see Payment Procedures)

Student will be notified when application has been processed and start date is assigned.


Non-U.S. Citizens

You can get a full explanation of the student visa process at http://www.ice.gov/sevis/students.

  1. Complete the enrollment application in its entirety and submit to the school with your $2,100 deposit (see payment procedures). You must also send a copy of your passport, and a complete copy of any FAA or non-FAA licenses that you currently hold, copy of your FAA medical certificate, and/or foreign medical certificate. (**If you currently hold non-FAA licenses, we will need to complete additional paperwork in order to apply for your restricted U.S. license based on the foreign certificate. Contact us for more details.)
  2. Upon receipt of these documents, we will send your CTI Professional Flight Training acceptance letter and I-20 form to you via FedEx.
  3. When you receive your FedEx package from us, complete the following steps:
    1. Review for accuracy; ensure that all information exactly matches on your passport and Form I-20;
    2. Pay your SEVIS I-901 fee online at FMJFee.com,making sure to enter your information exactly as it appears on your passport and I-20;
    3. Take the I-20mn form, the acceptance letter, and your I-901 receiptwith you to the nearest U.S. Consulate or Embassy. Also, bring to the Embassy a valid passport, and a signed, written statement from your bank or lender, which certifies that the funds are available for flight training.     4. Double check to make sure you received the right type of visa, and that your name and date of birth are correct.
  4. Notify CTI Professional Flight Training (fax or e-mail) when you have received your visa, and when you plan to initiate travel to the United States.
  5. Next, begin the TSA Approval Process.
    1. Complete the account request form here and submit.
    2. Within hours of submitting the initial request, you will be e-mailed a user I.D. and password. Log back on to the website to complete the online form. Submit the form.
    3. Generally, within 24 hours, the TSA will send a confirmation that they have received your application. They will also provide instructions as to how you can pay the $130 fee via their web-site.
    4. The TSA will send a confirmation when they process your payment (within 48 hours).
    5. Once you arrive at CTI Professional Flight Training, we will help you complete the last step, fingerprinting. You will not be permitted to begin training until the TSA confirms that they have received your fingerprints.
