Your first visit to Fort Lauderdale: An ultimate guide

First visit to Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale for the first-timer

Whether you’re making a tour of our Florida campus or coming to learn to fly with us, a visit to CTI Professional Flight Training could also mark your first visit to Fort Lauderdale!  Read on to find out how to make the most of this great city.

Visit

Fort Lauderdale offers a blend of sun, sea, great food and an eclectic arts scene.  One hidden gem that celebrates that art scene is Bonnet House Museum and Gardens.  This totally unique mansion gives you a great insight into the Florida of days gone by.  Check out unique art and beautiful gardens – and don’t forget to look out for the monkeys!

If you want something a little more fast-paced (and you’re visiting in a group of three or more), test your mettle against an Escape Game at QQuest!  Find clues, crack codes, and try to break out before the time runs out – not one for the faint-hearted, but pretty cool!

Learn

One of the best ways to learn about Fort Lauderdale is on a river cruise!  With sunshine, an onboard bar, and a knowledgeable guide, it’s a beautiful way to take in the area and all its attractions.  Riverfront Cruises is just one of the companies that offers these tours.

Your first visit to Fort Lauderdale could also include a trip to the Museum of Discovery and Science, complete with IMAX theatre.  There’s always a range of fantastic exhibits to learn from, including To Fly – a brilliant exhibit all about flying!  Art fans should head to the NSU Art Museum too, for its wide-ranging exhibitions and events.

Listen

There’s always live music in some form or another going on in Fort Lauderdale.  A great place to start is at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, which often plays host to big names on tour.

If you prefer to listen to music with good food and drink, head along to Original Fat Cats for anything from live DJs to reggae nights.  With a huge craft beer selection and a menu featuring Philly Cheesesteaks and Italian Hoagies, you’re sure to have a great time.

And if you like the idea of sounds on the waterfront, stop by at Bahia Cabana for Happy Hour and live music every weekend.

Eat

There’s a whole host of places in Fort Lauderdale where you could eat your bodyweight in great food, but a couple of highlights include Café Seville for sensational Spanish cuisine, and Tap 42 for Bottomless Brunch at the weekend!

And in the hot Florida sun, there’s only one way to cool off – and that’s with a visit to Jaxson’s Ice Cream Parlor and Restaurant! Serving every flavor imaginable – from Butter Almond to Cherry Vanilla – the hardest part is choosing what to have…

If you’re still hungry, check out our full list of great places to eat in Fort Lauderdale!

With all this to pack in – plus a trip to us at CTI PFT – your first visit to Fort Lauderdale is going to be one to remember…
