Fleet Feature: Diamond DA42 NG

Diamond DA42 NG

The Diamond DA42 NG

If you’re completing your commercial multi-engine license or your multi-engine add-on at CTI PFT, you’ll get the pleasure of flying our Diamond DA42 NG.  This fantastic aircraft is a popular choice for flight schools and owners alike, and you’ll find it at both our Tennessee and Florida campuses.

The Diamond DA42 is a twin-engine aircraft and is the perfect choice for transitioning from single- to multi-engine aircraft.  This is largely down to its easy handling – when in the air, you’ll feel like you’re flying a single.  It’s also economical, burning fuel at a lower rate, which is why it’s such a favorite trainer.

For anyone who is new to twin engines, they are an excellent choice for cross-country flights or flying over hospitable terrain.  If your first engine fails, the second kicks in – so the extra engine comes with an added peace of mind too!  In fact, the first diesel-powered fixed-wing aircraft to make a non-stop crossing of the North Atlantic, taking 12.5 hours to do so.

This sleek four-seater was first certified in the United States in 2005 and has undergone some variations in its time.  The model we use is the DA42 NG, which has an Austro Engine AE 300.  With 168 hp, it’s got all the power you need for your flight.

The DA42 has a fantastic panoramic wrap-around canopy, and large rear windows, making for excellent visibility (for you and your passengers!).  As well as the fuselage baggage area, there’s also additional storage in the two nose compartments – purposely designed for golf bags.  And you can’t get much more aerodynamic than the carbon composite airframe, which is durable and safe.

I have 21 flight hours on the DA 42, 10 FSTD hours on DA42 sim, 10 hours of ground training on ME Systems and performance, Complex Endorsement, and FAA Single Engine CPL. I also have a valid M1 visa with less than 6 months of leave of absence. I need a ME addon with least possible hours (around 3 hrs dual) and checkride, plz advise with the fees structure.
