The World’s Best Airports in 2019
International air travelers have cast their votes and the world’s best airports have been announced for 2019. The world airport awards began in 1999 when Skytrax launched its first global, airport customer satisfaction survey. The survey assesses customer service and facilities in over 550 worldwide airports.
World’s Best Airport
Singapore’s Changi Airport was voted world’s best airport for the 7th consecutive year. The facilities and convenience are phenomenal. Terminal 3 alone, has nearly 100 stores that sell everything from watches and cosmetics, to gifts and alcohol. The food and drink options are plenty with everything from Singapore street food to American, and Chinese. The 919 computer controlled skylights with butterfly-shaped reflectors to manage the natural light creates an unforgettable atmosphere.
World’s Cleanest Airport
Japan’s Tokyo Haneda International Airport took the top award for cleanest airport. Haneda is the counterpart to Tokyo’s Narita airport. Haneda is the world’s fifth busiest airport, but doesn’t feel as crowded or rushed as you might expect. You can easily get to where you need to very efficiently, and the food options are fantastic. And to top it off, it’s sparkling clean!
World’s Best Transit Airport
South Korea’s Seoul Incheon International Airport took the top award for transit passengers. Flight changes can sometimes leave you stuck in a terminal for hours. If that’s your fate Seoul’s Incheon airport is the place to get stuck. The layout is very user friendly, food options are abundant, and a variety of comfortable lounge areas and some of the world’s fastest internet speeds makes this layover bearable.
World’s Best Airport Staff
Japan’s Tokyo Narita International Airports took the best airport staff service award. This award recognizes the attitude, friendliness, and efficiency delivered across front-line positions at an airport. It includes staff working for customer help at information counters, immigration and security staff, shops, and food & beverage outlets.
World’s Best Airport Hotel
Singapore’s Crown Plaza Changi Airport takes this award along with its overall award. It’s the 5th consecutive year they’ve been voted as the world’s best airport hotel. This award is based on guest surveys that rate overall experience, access to and from the airport, customer service, cleanliness, amenities, food, and value for cost.
