Short flights from Memphis

One bonus of learning to fly at our Tennessee campus is the excellent variety of short flights from Memphis you can make! Here we compile our favorites – all just a few hours in the air from CTI Professional Flight Training’s headquarters.

Nashville

Just over an hour’s flight away from Millington Regional Jetport is Nashville, the home of Country and Western! Grab your cowboy boots, settle back, and listen to some live country music at one of the many bars on Broadway.

Fill up on fantastic food at the range of nearby eateries, from BBQ joints to fine dining restaurants. Learn about the history of the city’s greatest export at the Country Music Hall of Fame or RCA Studio B, or head to The Johnny Cash Museum to learn more about the Man in Black. And then, of course, there’s the Grand Ole Opry to visit for a backstage tour or live show!

Beyond the city, there’s much more in easy reach, from Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage to the Jack Daniels Distillery in Lynchburg – with everything set in the incredible Tennessee landscape.

Great Smoky Mountains National Park

Beyond Nashville, due east is the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which takes about three hours from Millington Regional Jetport. Named after the blue mist that settles over the mountains and in the valleys, the Smokies straddle Tennessee and North Carolina with acres and acres of mountains and forests. Ideal for a trip away from it all, book a cabin for the weekend and enjoy the opportunity to walk, cycle, or spot the variety of wildlife that calls the Smokies home.

And Dolly Parton fans will be pleased to know they’ll find Dollywood just outside the national park in Pigeon Forge – a theme park complete with plenty of entertainment!

Atlanta

Georgia’s capital and its largest city, historic Atlanta attracts people from all over the world to live, visit, and work.  Just an hour and 10 minutes from Millington Regional Jetport, you’ll find no end of things to do here, from exploring coffee shops and foodie haunts in The BeltLine to cycling and walking around Piedmont Park.

Art lovers are spoiled for choice with the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center, High Museum of Art and Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia to visit, while shopaholics can get their fill at the city’s many department stores.  And no trip to Atlanta is complete without a tour of World of Coca-Cola for a real American institution!

New Orleans

One hour and 40 minutes from Millington Regional Jetport is New Orleans – one of the greatest short flights from Memphis! Blending history, incredible architecture, and of course some amazing party vibes, NOLA is a city like no other.  Take a tour of the French Quarter and the beautiful Garden District, learn about New Orleans’ rich (and often turbulent) past, and don’t forget to take in some incredible jazz music – you’ll find it everywhere!

A trip to the Crescent City isn’t complete without sampling some classic Creole cuisine either, so whether it’s jambalaya, red beans and rice, gumbo or bread pudding you’re tucking into, make every bite count.  Arrive hungry at Central Grocery for a muffuletta, and don’t leave the city before you’ve experienced beignets and coffee at Café Du Monde!

Remember, this is just a small selection of the short flights from Memphis you could make while training with us.  So which one’s your favorite?
