If you’re learning to fly at our Tennessee flight school, you may well be looking for things to do in Memphis this summer! Luckily, 2017 has a fantastic line-up, whether you love sport, music, food or just general fun times. Check out our top picks!

The Levitt Shell’s Summer Concert Series, Overton Park (Thurs-Sun, June 1-July 16)

Who loves music? Even better, who loves FREE music?! The Summer Concerts at the legendary Levitt Shell are back, promising a superb line-up of 30 concerts, starting next week. From the Stax Academy to Patriotic Pops, from Pheobe Hunt & The Gatherers to the Squirrel Nut Zippers, there’s something to suit everyone, regardless of your age or favorite music genre. So bring some chairs, a picnic rug, or just yourself for great music in Overton Park. There’s no fee, but you can make a donation at the end of the evening.

Food Truck Fridays, Dixon Gardens (Friday lunchtimes through to September – 11:30 am-1:30 pm)

If you’re a self-professed foodie, make sure you get along to Dixon Gardens for Food Truck Fridays this summer. Every Friday promises a different selection of food trucks, making lunchtime even better with fresh-cooked treats, from BBQ to shrimp to sushi to kebabs. What’s more, admission to the glorious Dixon Gardens is free during Food Truck Fridays, so you get to enjoy this beautiful space as well as great food!

Memphis Redbirds, AutoZone Park (games throughout the summer)

It’s baseball season, which means it’s time to head to AutoZone Park and cheer on the Memphis Redbirds! Games are scheduled throughout the season, with tickets ranging in price depending on the game and your chosen seats. There are special events throughout the season too, including fireworks for Memorial Day Weekend and even a Star Wars Night tomorrow!

Rooftop Parties at The Peabody (Thursdays through to August 17, 6-10pm)

Summer wouldn’t be summer without The Peabody Hotel’s legendary Rooftop Parties. Enjoy the best views of the city and the Mississippi River from the top of Memphis’ most famous hotel, all the while sipping on sensational drinks and listening to outstanding live music. Book your tickets in advance to avoid disappointment. Or, why not enjoy every party in style with a Rooftop Party VIP season pass?

Elvis Week (August 11-19)

August 11 means one thing in Memphis: the beginning of Elvis Week! If you’ve not experienced it before, visitors flock from all over the world to pay homage to Elvis Presley – it’s probably one of the most renowned things to do in Memphis this summer! Events run all week at various locations around the city, from concerts, to auctions, to the yearly candlelight vigil along Elvis Presley Boulevard, leading up to the resting place of the King himself at Graceland. So dig out your blue suede shoes and get involved!
