Make the most of your Christmas in Memphis!
Are you spending Christmas in Memphis?
Many of our students at our Tennessee flight school will be spending Christmas in Memphis this year. It’s little surprise, really; some call Memphis their hometown already, while others are students from abroad who’ll be spending the holidays here!
If it’s your first Christmas in Memphis, we’ve gathered together some of the best ways to get into the festive spirit, sure to give you a truly magical holiday season.
Enchanted Forest Festival of the Trees
Where: Pink Palace Museum
When: Daily until December 31, 9am-5pm
It wouldn’t be Christmas in Memphis without the Enchanted Forest Festival of the Trees!
This 65-year-old tradition offers a magical wonderland for kids of all ages (including oversized ones!), as you step into a world of twinkling lights, stunning Christmas trees, and even a snow-covered Gingerbread Village. Take a ride on the model train through the Christmas Village, and don’t forget to wave at the elves, penguins and polar bears you’ll meet on the way!
Christmas at The Peabody
Where: The Peabody Memphis
When: Daily until December 31
For something a little more refined, take a trip along to The Peabody. Since the colossal tree was lit up at the end of November, the South’s Grand Lobby has been alight with gorgeous decorations for an extravagant taste of Christmas for the hotel’s guests.
Why not check them out for yourself? Arrive for one of the famous Duck Marches at 11 am or 5 pm, or enjoy brunch or afternoon tea in this world-famous hotel. If you want to go all out, you can even book in for a sumptuous Christmas dinner on December 25.
Christmas at Graceland
Where: Graceland
When: Daily until January 8
Hundreds of blue lights along the driveway, a life-sized Nativity scene, and the legendary red drapes throughout the mansion, Christmas at Graceland comes in its own unique style! See how Elvis and the Presley family decorated their home for the holidays as you tour inside and outside Graceland.
If you’re there on Holiday Concert Weekend (December 14-15), you may even be lucky enough to catch one of three festive live concerts on the Soundstage – one of which will feature guitarist James Burton of Elvis’ original TCB Band.
Holiday Wonders at the Garden
Where: Memphis Botanic Garden
When: Select nights until December 31, 5:30pm-8:30pm
Get in touch with nature this Christmas at Memphis at the Memphis Botanic Garden. Holiday Wonders at the Garden features a range of wonderfully designed attractions, sure to leave you feeling fully festive!
Gather around the 80ft City of Memphis Christmas tree, be amazed by the spectacular light show of Trees Alight (synchronized with holiday tunes, of course!), relax with a beverage in Under the Stars, and see the whole family captivated by the wonder of Snowy Nights – complete with “snow”!
New Year’s Eve on Beale Street
Where: Beale Street
When: December 31
Is there any better way to see out the year than with 50,000 other revelers on one of the most famous streets in the world? Head to Beale Street on New Year’s Eve and see off your blues – quite literally – while enjoying all the great food and music on offer.
It’s a tradition to bring something which signifies your blues, such as a rejection letter or a memento of an ex, and to toss it into the coffin before 2019 rolls in. Once you’ve done that, gather at the Hard Rock Café for the Midnight Countdown and ring in the New Year full of positivity!
Whatever you get up to this Christmas in Memphis, make it one of your best – from all at CTI Professional Flight Training.
